I went to the National Coal Mining Museum recently. As I read a panel about the spoil tips that defined the landscape of the pit villages, I thought back to the Big Scary Monsters 25th Anniversary party I’d been to a few days earlier. A great gig, that included some of the big guns and mighty beasts who have been with the label over the years. This superb young band, who I can only assume were named in homage to the mining community 😏, opened: when the ‘tape of the back of the guitar’ reveal came at the end, I knew that my picture of the month would be of Slag.
